Argentina digital nomad visa: 180 days, renewable once, and no income floor in the text

Argentina's digital nomad visa is Migraciones Disposition 758/2022: a transitory residence under article 24(h) of the Migration Law for up to 180 days, for nationals of countries that need no tourist visa and who work remotely for people or companies abroad. It renews once, for another 180 days, on proof of income from that work, a clean Argentine criminal record and at least half of the first period spent in the country. The disposition sets no minimum income and asks for no health insurance. Applied for inside Argentina, the residence costs 32,000 pesos and the renewal 40,000.

Argentina's digital nomad visa is the lightest of any country on this site: no income threshold in the text, no insurance requirement, and fees measured in tens of thousands of pesos. It is also the shortest. It runs 180 days, renews once, and ends there. Anyone who wants to stay longer needs a different category, and most of the figures circulating online for this visa do not come from the instrument that created it.

Everything below is taken from Migraciones Disposition 758/2022, Official Bulletin of 11 May 2022, read on 25 October 2026; the Migraciones fee table under Decree 584/2024, last modified 11 December 2025; and the Migration Law, Law 25.871, and the Income Tax Law, as read for our page on retiring in Argentina.

Argentina digital nomad visa: Disposition 758/2022

Article 1 of the disposition creates a transitory residence, under article 24(h) of Law 25.871, the category for special reasons, for "up to 180 days". It is open to two conditions together:

  • the applicant is a national of a country whose citizens need no tourist visa to enter Argentina; and
  • he works remotely "for natural or legal persons domiciled abroad".

That first condition decides who can use it before anything else does. A citizen of the United States, the United Kingdom or most of Europe qualifies. A national of a country that needs a tourist visa for Argentina does not, however well paid.

Argentina digital nomad visa requirements: what the file contains

Article 2 lists the file:

  • an application form with personal details, the remote activity, a short CV and education level;
  • a valid passport;
  • a 4×4 photograph;
  • proof of the activity: a contract, an endorsement from the company, or proof of applying for the work, certifications, or receipts for income or fees, with at least one reference to the applicant's occupation.

Documents are legalised and translated into Spanish. The application is a sworn statement, and the evidence is shown either when the electronic entry procedure is registered from abroad or when a regularisation request is filed inside Argentina.

Is there an income requirement for the Argentina digital nomad visa?

Not in the text. Disposition 758/2022 sets no minimum income for the first 180 days. Proof of income appears only at renewal, and even there the disposition asks for proof of income from the services during the residence, not a figure.

Pages that print a monthly amount for this visa are quoting something else — often the rentista threshold of five minimum wages, which belongs to a different category with different rules, set out in retiring in Argentina.

Renewing the Argentina digital nomad visa: once, and only with half the time spent there

Article 3 allows the renewal "only once", for the same term as the original — another 180 days — on four conditions:

  1. a valid passport;
  2. proof of income from the services during the period of residence;
  3. a criminal record certificate from Argentina's National Recidivism Registry;
  4. having stayed in Argentina for at least 50% of the residence period.

So the visa is not a base for travelling around the region. A nomad who spends most of his first 180 days in Chile or Uruguay cannot renew.

Argentina digital nomad visa cost

The disposition itself refers to an older fee decree. The fees in force are in the Migraciones fee table under Decree 584/2024, in migration fee units worth 1,000 pesos each:

StepNationals outside MERCOSURMERCOSUR and associated states
Transitory residence, applied for in Argentina32 units, 32,000 pesos16 units, 16,000 pesos
Renewal of an article 24(h) transitory residence40 units, 40,000 pesos20 units, 20,000 pesos
Electronic entry procedure from abroad, article 24(h)80 consular units80 consular units

At the central bank's rate of 1,528.26 pesos to the dollar on 23 October 2026, 32,000 pesos is about US$21 and 40,000 about US$26. The fee table does not convert consular units into pesos.

Health insurance and public hospitals for digital nomads in Argentina

The disposition does not ask for health insurance. The Migration Law, since DNU 366/2025, says something more practical: in hospitals run by the national state, anyone who is not a permanent resident receives routine treatment only "against presentation of health insurance or prior payment for the service", and article 34 asks every foreigner entering under any category to declare that he holds health insurance. A nomad without cover pays for routine care.

Tax for digital nomads in Argentina

Article 116(b) of the Income Tax Law makes a foreigner an Argentine tax resident after twelve months on temporary authorisations. Two terms of 180 days come to 360 days, under that line. Whether a nomad who then changes to another category has his transitory months counted towards the twelve, and what happens to the income earned in the meantime, is a question for an Argentine tax adviser, not a reason to assume either answer.

Argentina digital nomad visa or the rentista residence

Digital nomad, Disp. 758/2022Rentista, art. 23(b)
WhoRemote workers from visa-free countriesPeople living on income from assets abroad
IncomeNo figure in the textFive minimum wages a month, 1,956,000 pesos in October 2026
Earnings from workThe basis of the visaExcluded
Term180 days, renewed onceOne year, renewable; permanent residence after three
Fee32,000 pesos, then 40,000100,000 pesos

The two do not lead into each other. The nomad visa is for working remotely; the rentista residence is for living on investments and expressly excludes "remuneration obtained from personal work". A nomad who wants to stay beyond a year needs a category his circumstances actually fit.

Frequently asked questions

Does Argentina have a digital nomad visa?

Yes. Migraciones Disposition 758/2022 created a transitory residence for digital nomads under article 24(h) of Law 25.871, for up to 180 days and renewable once.

Who can apply for the Argentina digital nomad visa?

Nationals of countries that need no tourist visa to enter Argentina, who work remotely for people or companies domiciled abroad.

Is there a minimum income for the Argentina digital nomad visa?

No figure appears in Disposition 758/2022. Proof of income from the remote work is required only at renewal.

How long can I stay on the Argentina digital nomad visa?

Up to 180 days, renewable once for another 180 days — provided you spent at least half of the first period in Argentina.

How much does the Argentina digital nomad visa cost?

32,000 pesos for the transitory residence applied for in Argentina, and 40,000 pesos for the renewal, for nationals outside MERCOSUR under Decree 584/2024.

Do I need health insurance for the Argentina digital nomad visa?

The disposition does not require it, but national-state hospitals give routine care to non-permanent residents only against health insurance or payment.

Can I switch from the Argentina digital nomad visa to residence?

Not through this disposition, which allows one renewal and nothing more. Longer residence needs another category under article 23, such as rentista for income from assets.

Where this sits in the rest of the site

The temporary residence categories for income and pensions are in retiring in Argentina, and citizenship, by investment or after two years, in Argentina citizenship by investment. Digital nomad routes in Greece and the UAE are in the Greece digital nomad visa and the Dubai remote work visa. Every figure here is traced on the sources page. How this route compares with five other countries' nomad visas — income, cost, term and what comes after — is in digital nomad visa countries.

If you plan to work remotely from Argentina

We do not give legal or tax advice. What we do is put a person who knows what they are asking in front of a licensed adviser in Argentina. The questions that decide this route are rarely the fee. They are what you will do after 360 days, and how the income earned before then will be treated. Send them through the enquiry form. We take no part in the fee.
